SYDNEY--WorleyParsons Ltd. (WOR.AU) said Thursday it would acquire Norwegian engineering business Bergen Group Rosenberg AS, a subsidiary of Bergen Group ASA (BERGEN.SO), for 1.09 billion Norwegian kroner (US$195 million).
Bergen Group Rosenberg, which is based in Stavanger and employs about 650 people, provides engineering services to the maritime and offshore oil and gas industries. WorleyParsons Chief Executive Andrew Wood said the purchase provided "the ideal platform for us to expand our presence in the Norwegian Continental Shelf offshore oil and gas market."
The deal is expected to be completed by the end of the month, the company said.
