LONDON--Telecoms firm BT Group PLC (BT.A.LN) said Thursday it has appointed Rio Tinto PLC's (RIO.LN) Jan du Plessis as its next chairman from Nov. 1, replacing Mike Rake who is retiring from the company after 10 years in the role.
BT said Mr. du Plessis, who has been chairman of Rio Tinto since 2009, will become non-executive director from June 1.
