Energy Resources of Australia Ltd. (ERA.AU) Tuesday said it substantially boosted its second quarter uranium oxide production from a year earlier owing to improved grades and milling rates.

ERA produced 1,481 metric tons of uranium oxide in the three months to June 30, up 44% on the second quarter of 2008.

The improvement in second quarter production helped ERA, which is 68%-owned by Rio Tinto Ltd. (RTP), report a 14% increase in first half production to 2,695 tons of uranium oxide for the six months to June 30.
