BHP Group PLC said Tuesday that shareholders have withdrawn a proposed resolution calling for the company to take steps to protect cultural-heritage sites in Australia.
The world's largest listed mining company said the same shareholders who requested the resolution, known as Item 24, have withdrawn it, and it won't be voted upon at BHP's annual general meeting. The shareholders involved represented 0.01% of the issued share capital in BHP Group Ltd., according to the company.
The proposed resolution called for a moratorium on undertaking activities that would disturb, destroy or desecrate cultural-heritage sites in Australia, among other measures.
In the original notice for the AGM issued Sept. 14, BHP had said that the resolution wasn't in the best interest of shareholders, and recommended that they vote against it.
