SYDNEY--APA Group (APA.AU) is interested in buying pipelines that may be sold by large gas-export joint ventures, Chief Executive Nick McCormack said.
"Absolutely we're interested," he said on the sidelines of a conference Thursday. "They've got my phone number."
Joint ventures that include the participation of BG Group Plc (BG.LN) and Origin Energy Ltd. (ORG.AU) have said they're considering selling some project infrastructure such as pipelines to boost capital. The ventures are designed to manufacture so-called liquefied natural gas, or LNG, to be exported to Asian utility companies.
Mr. McCormack said the ventures pay be particularly interested in selling the core pipelines running from gas fields in Queensland state's Surat Basin to the port of Gladstone on the coast. He added that any deals would be more straightforward once the pipelines had been built over the next year or so.
