                    Notification of Major Interest in Shares


In accordance with Part VI of the Companies Act 1985 (as amended) the Company
was informed on 6 June 2003 that on 5 June 2003 Standard Life Investments, on
behalf of the Standard Life Group, sold 2,000,000 SkyePharma plc Ordinary
Shares, and that this decreased the total held as a material interest to below
3% of the issued share capital of the Company.
