GM Debuts 2005 Corvette, Production Sedan, Crossover Sport Vehicles And Sports Car Concepts at 2004 North American International Auto Show DETROIT, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Led by the new, sixth-generation Corvette, General Motors reinforces its commitment to producing compelling vehicles with the introduction of several new concept and production models at the 2004 North American International Auto Show. The 2005 Corvette raises the ante in sports car performance while maintaining a reverent connection to its half-century of heritage. In addition to the 2005 Corvette, GM will introduce the 2005 Pontiac G6 sports sedan, the newest addition to an increasingly diverse, sophisticated and performance-oriented family of sedans. "Great new cars filled with passion and performance are rolling off the assembly lines at GM," said Gary L. Cowger, president of GM North America. "The breadth of these new products will keep GM's momentum going and help define a leadership position in passenger cars." GM also will show concept vehicles based on GM's all-new Kappa architecture, as well as a version of the Pontiac Solstice roadster that inspired the concept vehicles' architecture. Here's more detail about the GM highlights at the 2004 North American International Auto Show: * 2005 Chevrolet Corvette - Marking the sixth generation of its legacy, the 2005 Corvette delivers more power, passion and precision to reach a new standard of performance car excellence. * 2005 Pontiac G6 - Stretching the boundaries of traditional midsize sedans, this Epsilon-based sports sedan provides exceptional interior room, razor sharp ride-and-handling attributes and unexpected refinement. * Saturn Curve and Chevy Nomad - Based on GM's forthcoming compact, rear- wheel-drive Kappa architecture, these concepts demonstrate expressive ideas of personal sports cars. The Kappa architecture's four-cylinder engine, rear- drive layout mirrors the popular 2001 Pontiac Solstice roadster concept in size and proportion. * Cadillac CTS-V/GM Racing - A special announcement will be made regarding Cadillac's participation in SCCA's World Speed Challenge. These introductions continue GM's relentless product offensive. At the Los Angeles Auto Show, GM also featured several new vehicle introductions: the Chevrolet Cobalt compact coupe and sedan, the Saab 9-2X premium sports compact car, the Buick Terraza and Saturn Relay crossover sport vehicles and the HUMMER H3T midsize concept truck.
