ENERGY CAPITAL INVESTMENT COMPANY PLC ("ECIC")

Announcement re Cordillera

The Board of ECIC announces that Patina Oil and Gas Corporation ("Patina") has
agreed to acquire all the assets of Cordillera Energy Partners L.L.C.
("Cordillera"). ECIC's interest in Cordillera will be acquired for a cash
consideration of approximately $6 million plus a small number of warrants to
purchase common stock of Patina at $45 per share against a current market price
of $37. This consideration compares with a valuation of $5 million as at 31
December 2002. Completion is expected in October 2003.

As a result, after providing for US taxation on this sale and the recent sales
of listed securities, the total cash that will be held by ECIC amounts to
approximately #21.5 million.
