Notification pursuant to s198 of the Companies Act 1985 ("the Act")

On 31 December 2003, 3i European Technology Trust plc was notified that Allianz
AG and subsidiaries (as detailed below), having sold Merchant Investors
Assurance Company Limited ("Merchant IA") which had an interest in the ordinary
shares of 3i European Technology Trust plc, no longer hold a disclosable
material interest in the ordinary shares of 3i European Technology Trust plc.

Allianz AG was the ultimate holding company of Merchant IA.  The shares in
Merchant IA were held by The MI Group Limited ("MIG"), a direct subsidiary of
Allianz UK Limited, which is a direct subsidiary of Allianz Europe Limited ("
Allianz Europe") which is itself a 66.66% owned subsidiary of Allianz AG.  The
other 33.33% of shares in Allianz Europe are owned by Allianz Lebensvericherungs
AG ("Allianz Leben"), a direct subsidiary of Jota Vermogensverwaltungs GmbH ("
Jota"), which is itself a direct subsidiary of Allianz AG.  As a result of s203
(2) of the Act, MIG, Allianz UK Limited, Allianz Europe, Allianz Leben, Jota and
Allianz AG are no longer interested in the ordinary shares in which Merchant IA
are interested.

The notification was made by Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein Group Limited an
indirect subsidiary of Allianz AG, on behalf of Allianz AG and its subsidiaries.
