Schibsted Media Group has acquired the Mexican online classifieds site Anumex. Schibsted's fully owned existing online classifieds site Segundamano.mx is the largest online classifieds site in Mexico in terms of traffic, content and brand recognition. Anumex contributes to strengthen this position.
Anumex is leading in some of the 31 Mexican federal states. The site was launched in 2004, and has up until Schibsted's acquisition been owned by the founders and financial investors. Segundamano.mx was launched by Schibsted in July 2012, and has experienced solid growth since.
"By combining the two sites, we are able to create additional value for buyers and sellers through an even larger and more liquid market place. This acquisition represents another move towards our goal of establishing strong, market leading online classifieds positions in attractive markets. To achieve this goal, we invest both through organic initiatives, bolt on acquisitions and structural agreements, CEO of Schibsted Media Group," Rolv Erik Ryssdal says.
Schibsted regards the Mexican online market to be highly attractive, though relatively immature. Internet penetration as well as the general economy enjoys high growth rates.
The parties have agreed not to communicate the value of the transaction, and the transaction has been closed.
