Patient Safety Technologies, Inc. (AMEX:PST) announced today that Chairman Louis Glazer, M.D., Ph.G., has been named to the inaugural Executive Council of the Center for Patient Safety Research and Practice at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. "The Center for Patient Safety Research and Practice was established to create knowledge and ways to improve systems and change the culture of medicine to embrace the safety of patients as the first priority in providing quality care. A key strategy to sustaining this work is to assemble the most influential group of leaders possible who understand the potential for saving lives and improving the quality of health care. We are pleased that Dr. Glazer has accepted our invitation to serve on the Center's inaugural Executive Council," said David W. Bates, M.D., M.Sc., Center Director, Chief, Division of General Medicine, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Glazer said, "As an enthusiastic advocate in both my business and professional life of the importance of improving patient safety in the practice of medicine, I look forward to participating in the Center's important work." Chaired by Dr. Chuck Denham, Oncologist and Chair of the Texas Medical Institute and the Leapfrog NQF Safe Practices Program, the Executive Council of the Center for Patient Safety Research and Practice supports research, education and awareness of efforts of the Center and its partners to improve patient safety.
