                     Monterrico Metals plc (the "Company")



                                   Allotment



The Company announces that 52,500 New Ordinary Shares ("New Shares") of 10p each
have been allotted and issued to certain employees and advisors of the Company
for cash at a price of 76.5p per share.



The New Shares will on admission rank pari passu in all respects with the
existing ordinary shares in the Company and application will be made for the New
Shares to be admitted to the Alternative Investment Market ("AIM").  Admission
of the New Shares to AIM is expected to become effective at 8.00am on or about
30 April 2003.
