                      Monterrico Metals Plc

The Board of Monterrico Metals plc ("the Company") announces that as a result of
an allotment of 20,000 new ordinary shares of 10 pence each ("the New Ordinary
Shares") pursuant to the exercise of options granted under the Company's Share
Option Scheme, application has been made for admission of the New Ordinary
Shares to be admitted to AIM and the Stock exchange Official list.

It is expected that such admission will become effective on 11 December 2003.
