In 2009, over 365 M&I locations and more than 2,500 employees helped make M&I Community Day 2009 a resounding success. M&I employees participated in a variety of events, including hosting financial literacy training seminars; building Habitat for Humanity homes; holding food drives; building new playgrounds; volunteering at local fundraisers; and participating in community clean-ups.
"Although many M&I employees have other volunteer commitments throughout the year, we have found that M&I Community Day provides a unique experience that enables thousands of our employees to give back to their local communities," said Mark Furlong, president and CEO of Marshall & Ilsley Corporation. "M&I Community Day provides our employees an opportunity to be part of a corporate-wide effort that underscores our commitment to nonprofit organizations throughout the entire M&I system."
M&I Community Day was launched in 2001, and since its inception, thousands of people have benefited from the efforts of M&I employees corporate wide. Individual M&I locations choose the organizations their project(s) will benefit based on the needs of their local communities.
