What is Enterprise Value?

EV/EBITDA is the enterprise value (EV, the sum of claims of all the security-holders: debt-holders, preferred shareholders, minority shareholders, common equity holders, and others) of a company divided by its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA), and is preferred by many to P/E because it is capital structure neutral.
