BOSTON, July 27, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Global tax
software provider Sovos today announced that Terry Melnik, formerly general manager at Oracle
Netsuite's OpenAir, has joined the company as GM of Sales and Use
Tax. With 20 years' experience in technology, management consulting
and ecommerce, Melnik is charged with leading Sovos' long-range
plan in a market undergoing rapid change driven by the digital
transformation of sales and use tax.
There are more than 12,000 different tax regulations affecting
sales and use tax across the United
States, with thousands of changes each year, on average.
This is an IT challenge for companies of all sizes, as traditional
business systems and legacy solutions can't manage the pace of
regulatory change. In order to grow into new markets, sell via
digital channels and meet customer expectations for always-on
service, businesses need modern tax compliance solutions that solve
these challenges completely.
"Terry's experience in go-to-market strategy, planning and
execution, combined with his growth-focused leadership style, are a
great fit for our organization and this role," said Andy Hovancik, CEO, Sovos. "Terry similarly felt
Sovos was a great match for him -- he was particularly excited
about our culture, long-term vision and the market opportunity we
have to Solve Tax for Good."
During more than five years at Oracle Netsuite, Melnik was
general manager of OpenAir and led product marketing for both
OpenAir and NetSuite's SRP product line, creating the vision and
driving the go-to-market team. Earlier, he founded ToyFlow.com, a
deal-of-the-day website, where he created business processes, built
the technology platform, and designed marketing and customer
acquisition programs. Melnik was previously vice president of
customer experience at Upland PowerSteering, which grew from a
startup into an industry leader during his tenure. A former
consultant at big five accounting firm Arthur Andersen, Melnik
earned his bachelor's degree in economics from Concordia University and his master's in business
administration from Boston College.
"Sovos is a high-caliber environment with the people, practices
and products to address increasingly complex and business-critical
compliance challenges," said Terry
Melnik, general manager, sales and use tax at Sovos.
"Mid-market and enterprise retailers and manufacturers face
relentless regulatory change. They need a complete, cloud-first
platform and exceptional customer support, and this is the team
that will bring it to them."
