TORONTO, July 29,
2024 /CNW/ - Sevaun Palvetzian, President and CEO of
UNICEF Canada, invites media to participate in a virtual roundtable
on the devastating impact of wildfires on children's health and
well-being, both in Canada and
across the globe.
As climate change drives an increase in wildfires, UNICEF Canada
is raising the alarm: children are at greater risk. According to a
new UNICEF report entitled "Safe from Wildfire Smoke" particulate
matter released from wildfires has been found to be approximately
10 times more harmful to respiratory health than ambient air
pollution, particularly in young children.
