MOL Nyrt. (MOL.BU) said Thursday that its Slovak unit Slovnaft AS (1SLN01AE.BS) and Hungary's power company MVM Group have made a joint bid for Slovenske Elektrarne AS, the Slovak electricity utility majority-owned by Italy's Enel SpA (ENEL.MI).
Slovnaft AS, the largest Slovak oil refinery and fuel distributor, and MVM, Hungary's main electricity utility, are seeking to buy 66% shares of Slovenske Elektrarne held by Enel.
No details about the non-binding offer were disclosed.
Analysts say the Enel's stake in its Slovak subsidiary could be worth about 2 billion euros ($2.51 billion).
Officials at Czech utility CEZ AS have also expressed interest in bidding for Slovenske Elektrarne.
