Limited Edition Ice Cream Flavor to Benefit Children's Cancer Research OAKLAND, Calif., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Ice cream and kids just go together and Edy's Grand Ice Cream is hoping its Limited Edition flavor, Triple Winner Neapolitan, does more than tempt taste buds. Edy's and The Stop & Shop/Giant Food Supermarket Company are teaming up again to bring the grocer's popular Triple Winner Game(R) fundraiser and EDY'S(R) Triple Winner Neapolitan ice cream to provide a sweet way to donate to children's cancer charities this spring and summer. This is the second year in a row that Edy's and Stop & Shop/Giant Food have joined forces and offered this special ice cream incentive. EDY'S(R) Triple Winner Neapolitan ice cream, available in all Stop & Shop/Giant Food stores, will help generate a maximum donation of $25,000 from Edy's Grand Ice Cream to benefit the children's cancer charities of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, The Jimmy Fund and the Children's Cancer Foundation. As a special incentive to help these organizations, Edy's Grand Ice Cream is offering a free scoop of Triple Winner Neapolitan on Saturday, May 19, 2007, at all Stop & Shop/Giant Food locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island, for those who donate directly to the charities in the stores that day. At last year's event, more than 78,000 scoops of ice cream were given away in just four hours! The EDY'S Limited Edition Triple Winner Neapolitan ice cream flavor coincides with Stop & Shop/Giant Food's Triple Winner Game, a scratch card promotion wherein customers who make a $1 donation to fight childhood cancer receive a special Triple Winner Game ticket. There are thousands of prizes available. The Triple Winner Game is a significant source of support for pediatric cancer charities, raising more than $36 million dollars in the past 16 years. Edy's Grand Ice Cream will manufacture 100,000 cartons of Triple Winner Neapolitan and the company's goal is to raise $25,000 for children's cancer charities just through the sale of the ice cream, which will benefit The Jimmy Fund in the Northeast, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in the New York area, and The Children's Cancer Foundation, Inc., in the Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington, D.C. areas.
