The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said Wednesday it reached a settlement with Advanta Corp.'s (ADVNB) Advanta Bank Corp. over allegations of deceptive and unfair practices.
The Draper, Utah-based bank agreed to pay a civil penalty of $150,000, as well as to refund about $14 million to businesses that used its "Cash Back Reward" credit card program and about $21 million to customers whose accounts had seen a substantial increase in their annual percentage rate without exceeding their credit limits or becoming delinquent in making payments.
In agreeing to the settlement, Advanta didn't admit or deny any liability.
