Hollifield Scholarship for Student-Athletes is now
accepting applications for the 2025 award cycle. Established to
recognize and support student-athletes who demonstrate excellence
both in academics and athletics, this scholarship offers a
one-time award of $1,000 to a
deserving undergraduate athlete who embodies dedication,
perseverance, and leadership.
Founded by Eric Hollifield, a
former collegiate athlete and advocate for student-athletes, the
scholarship reflects his lifelong commitment to fostering success
in both sports and education. Eric
Hollifield has been actively involved in athletic
development, having served in key leadership roles on the
Appalachian State Athletic Foundation Board, including as
President and later as President Emeritus. His own
experiences as a record-setting powerlifter and competitive cyclist
have shaped his deep understanding of the challenges and rewards of
balancing academics and sports.
Scholarship Eligibility and Application Process
The Eric Hollifield
Scholarship for Student-Athletes is open to undergraduate
students across the United States
who actively participate in collegiate sports and maintain strong
academic performance. Applicants must submit a 500-750 word
essay responding to the following prompt:
"How has being a student-athlete shaped your character, work
ethic, and leadership skills? Share a personal experience that
highlights your perseverance and dedication in both academics and
athletics."
Essays should be submitted in PDF or Word format via
email to apply@erichollifieldscholarship.com.
The deadline for applications is November 15, 2025, and the winner will be
announced on December 15,
2025.
