               DEVELOPMENT SECURITIES APPOINTS NEW CHAIRMAN ELECT


Development Securities PLC announced today the appointment of Roy Dantzic as a
non-executive Director of the Company, with effect from 21st May 2003.  It is
proposed that he becomes Chairman, also in a non-executive capacity, in
September 2003 when Hugh Jenkins steps down from the Board.


After seven years, Roy Dantzic (58) is due to retire as Managing Director of
SecondSite Property Holdings (formerly British Gas Properties) on 31st May 2003.
He will, however, continue as a non-executive director of SecondSite.  From
1989 to 1995 he was on the board of Stanhope Properties plc, the last three
years as its Finance Director.  Prior to that he held a number of corporate
finance positions with City Institutions and was Finance Director of Britoil
during the period of its privatisation.  Roy Dantzic is a member of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, the Council of the British
Property Federation and the Government's Property Advisory Group.  He has
served, in a non executive capacity, on a number of Boards and is currently a
non-executive director of Airplanes Limited and is on the Council of the
Architectural Heritage Fund.



Hugh Jenkins, Chairman of Development Securities PLC commented:
