BakBone Inks Worldwide Alliance With NEC
NEC to Integrate NetVault With TX7 Series Server Family on Intel(R) Itanium(R)
2 Processor-Based Platform
SAN DIEGO, June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BakBone Software(TM) (TSX: BKB;
OTC Bulletin Board: BKBOF), a global provider of data protection software, and
NEC Corporation (NASDAQ:NIPNY) today announced that they have signed a
worldwide alliance to integrate BakBone's NetVault software with NEC's TX7
Series Server Family based on the Intel(R) Itanium(R) 2 processor. Under the
agreement, NEC will have global distribution rights to NetVault 7 Enterprise
edition.

The combination of NetVault high reliability backup and recovery software with
NEC's TX7 series servers offers customers an advanced program development
environment running on 64-bit Linux. Delivering enhanced data protection and
enterprise-class functionality that scales to meet the demands of any size
environment, NetVault is ideally suited for high performance computing
environments for which the TX7 series family is targeted. As part of the
agreement, NetVault will be deployed as the backup and recovery solution for
NEC in markets that require large-scale data processing and high performance
with an emphasis on technical, scientific and educational verticals. The
agreement includes NetVault Enterprise edition for heterogeneous environments,
BakBone's VaultShare APM which supports StorageTek libraries using StorageTek's
ACSLS library control module, as well as BakBone's disk to disk backup (Virtual
Disk Library) capability.
