07/9/2002 17:17 | angler, Zip use their website to update its investors and they're pretty good actually. Results soon and then we'll see just what our collective tuppences have bought us. Good luck, Von. | vonbrokenburger
05/9/2002 10:37 | Foxed: Ask yourself 'What is one of the main functions of an AGM?' Surely, an update on trading performance? As for revealing this to a selected few, what do you think the RNS mechanism is for? It seems to me that the directors of zip do not anticipate any useful movement in the company's activities between the AGM and when they announce the next results. Now that would be embarrassing if there was nothing of positive substance to say when the next results are declared because it had beeen mentioned at the AGM. | angler
05/9/2002 09:49 | angler: If a company is about to post results they can't tell a selected few any detail a few weeks before. I agree that maybe i could have got more out of them by the way i put questions to them. | foxed
04/9/2002 18:33 | Foxed: I've just read your post 59. The effect of the closed period only relates to Directors buying or selling shares, nothing prevents them from posting RNS bulletins at any time. It is a popular misconception that the closed period effectively means 'close the shop' until the next results are announced. Knowing this, perhaps you need to ask why the company were reluctant to give a trading update at the AGM? | angler
04/9/2002 18:19 | No one seems to be interested in these much. I've held for a couple of months now as I too like the way things may develop for them. Perhaps the upcoming results will show others what they're missing? Only a couple of weeks now at best guess. Von. | vonbrokenburger
02/9/2002 11:11 | Considering they have cash of £6 million captured highway one for a song, they appear well undervalued. Holding and continuing to top up. | hastings
22/8/2002 00:33 | Results are out in September, i went to the AGM, the management would not let on too much as they are in a closed period. However i got the vibe that things are going well. Zipcom have a state of the art network and are being successful in picking up customers. These customers range from £12000 a year revenues up to £200,000. With a market cap of £6m i believe if revenues are growing at a high rate the shares are undervalued. Their network and cash must be worth more than 2p a share. Anyone have any views? | foxed
16/8/2002 16:06 | This is the latest from their website.. Date: 15th August 2002 ZIPCOM BRINGS HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS TO REGIONAL BUSINESSES Aylesbury and Oxford based businesses now have access to quality broadband Internet services, as part of independent UK telecoms operator Zipcom's aim to drive forward the adoption of broadband technology throughout Britain. Local businesses will now be able to use broadband technology, including Zipcom's SDSL (Symmetrical Digital Subscriber Line) service, to send and receive information up to 40 times faster than most dial-up modems. The push into regional cities is driven by Zipcom's expanding roll-out of network services. Located in central Aylesbury and Oxford, the development of the new PoPs (Points of Presence) will provide an access point to the Internet for any size of local business. With over 63 POPs already deployed nationwide, the PoPs will provide business quality "always-on" Internet access for a flat rate fee. The announcement comes after Zipcom launched its SDSL service dedicated to UK businesses. The first of its kind, the service enables businesses to benefit from an independent broadband alternative to leased lines that provides exceptional service quality and speeds without the associated high costs. Furthermore, Zipcom's SDSL service offers the same speeds when sending and receiving information over the Internet, making it ideal for businesses needing to transmit and download large files fast and reliably. Grahame Purvis, CEO of Zipcom comments, "Zipcom is a major driving force behind the adoption of broadband technology across Britain. The roll-out of regional Points of Presence gives businesses access to broadband technology, traditionally reserved for those located in the London region. By using next generation technology, such as SDSL, we are providing businesses with a combination of speed, reliability, flexibility and cost effectiveness." Zipcom independently owns and operates one of the most extensive, secure and resilient national networks. A dynamic leading-edge provider of competitive high performance voice, data, Internet and e-commerce connectivity solutions, Zipcom is committed to next generation technological advances. Zipcom's services are backed by a comprehensive Service Level Agreement (SLA) and customers are offered a dedicated account manager, providing a single point of contact for all enquiries | vonbrokenburger

02/8/2002 00:52 | Spike, its this month. I found it at the bottom of their annual report. Had an email from the ceo today though in which he stated that there wouldn't be an update as they are bringing out their numbers before the end of September and so are in a closed period. Full text is on iii bb. Von. | vonbrokenburger
01/8/2002 00:23 | Hi Von' AGM is on 13th of which month please, can't seem to find the info elsewhere. Thanks - Mike | spike_1

30/7/2002 08:28 | Don't forget the gm on the 13th. The company is reported as doing well and have promised a positive statement on current trading on the day. Just in case theres anyone here... Von. | vonbrokenburger
24/6/2002 10:49 | Note sections on BT/Oftel and SDSL. Bizarre state of affairs where BT has claimed there is no demand for SDSL, yet Oftel now insists they develop the product, while at the same time are sufficiently lax about the time scales, that BT can continue to do nothing if it wants to!!! | katylied

13/6/2002 09:49 | Deal worth £2million to ZIP and (quote) "....despite the sector malaise, we are enjoying rapid growth in order intake..." | katylied
05/6/2002 16:30 | From iii bb today. I emailed Zipcom today asking when the agm would be and would they be so kind as to give out a trading statement on the day. I guess things must be going fairly well for them as I received this reply within an hour or so... Emma forwarded your recent e-mail to me The final version of the report and accounts are about to be printed, and we will announce the AGM date shortly. We will be delighted to give a trading update at the AGM. Also Redleaf are currently working to raise our profile with the Press. Thank you for your interest Grahame R Purvis | vonbrokenburger
25/5/2002 15:57 | Sorry folks 500k sell late on @ 2p Thats what continues to keep bid price down... OR On the positive side just maybe there is a shortage of stock developing and there is a source MMs can tap??? Any views?? | westernedge
25/5/2002 00:51 | Three buys today totalling 388,144 shares - ok its only 10 odd grand's worth but still a positive move for existing shareholders. | quidzinn
24/5/2002 15:01 | Nice to see any buying. I still get the feeling that there aren't a lot of investors who have looked at this one. It doesn't help that theres not much out there to research Thank goodness for Katy. Von. | vonbrokenburger
18/5/2002 19:36 | This confirms what I said in post 43. BT do not have an SDSL product. This is one area where the alt-telcos (who already have LLU) can score bigtime. Zipcom have the potential for a real winner here. ...Simon Jackson, marketing manager at Star Internet (Fibernet wholesale customer) said: "It shocks me that BT seems to be missing out SDSL. It said there wasn't demand, but we're swamped with enquiries"... | katylied
18/5/2002 00:45 | The recent news on Zipcom SDSL rollout caught my eye some days back. So far I have tracked down the following players in this emerging SME market = FIB(wholesale only), ESY and ZIP (I know BT did run some trials but I believe they terminated them. Basically, SDSL is not a product that BT would like to encourage = leased-line competition. I'm not sure, but I don't think BT yet offers SDSL. Certainly BT ADSL has quite inadequate SLAs and contention levels for many SMEs). When I first bought into ZIP, I was puzzled that there was no mention of SDSL. I am much happier now that there is. I was also concerned that cost of rollout of the LLU terminal equipment might be rather costly for such a small company. I am not clear as to how much SDSL infrastructure was already in place by HighwayOne. I now believe it may have been more substantial that I first thought. I have read that HighwayOne was positioning itself for UK SDSL rollout quite some time back. It then abandoned the plans because of the usual BT related LLU problems. I wonder how much infrastructure was put in place, before they quit? Anyone know? I did e-mail Zipcom about this, but I have to say, I got back one of the most banal company responses I have ever had. To say that they managed to dodge all of my questions would still be an understatement. Perhaps I will e-mail again, but a little more aggressively. (FIB wholesale customer) (FIB) (ESY) (ESY) (ZIP) Anyone know of other SDSL players? | katylied
17/5/2002 11:55 | Up 11.1 percent on no trades, and after a week or so of sellers. Can you imagine how quickly Collins will mark these up if anyone dares to buy some. Von. | vonbrokenburger
09/5/2002 16:37 | Katy, According to Collins Stewart, their broker it was one buy and one sell so theres no overhang involved. Von. | vonbrokenburger |
