30/7/2009 19:52 | Shares go up 7.6% in a day and wsp shareholders do not post on this BB- what a phlegmatic set you are. I am now showing a 30% profit on wsp and look to them as a medium term recovery stock. I look to the shares reaching £4.00 in the next twelve months. This is a well managed co with a broad geographic spread and should do well. Not one for short term speculators as the quote often has quite a wide spread but a sound long term investment at this price | ferrettoast

01/7/2009 09:13 | Business Financial Newswire Slowdown hits WSP Group 01/07/09 WSP Group continues to trade in line with expectations in some very challenging markets. The group said for the six months ended 30th June 2009 public sector activities remain stable with businesses in the UK, Northern Europe and the US all trading well. The private sector continues to be difficult across all territories with a marked slowdown since this time last year in businesses in the UK and US and, in particular, in the Middle East. The ongoing lack of liquidity in Dubai is affecting both the resolution of existing contracts, which remains extremely slow, and conversion of the pipeline of future projects. The Environment and Energy business has found the UK challenging although its global reach is providing some support to its performance with solid trading in the US and Scandinavia. WSP said, 'Across all our markets we continue to watch our cost base and, as previously reported, we expect to recognise reorganisation costs of around £4 million in the first half of the year, principally in the UK and the Middle East. Although we are hopeful that further action will only need to be limited, we remain watchful.' The Group remains well financed with a £150m committed credit line to 2013. Net bank debt, whilst higher than at last year end, is at expected levels and we are comfortably within banking covenants. The liquidity issues that are materially impacting receipts from Middle East clients are also being felt more widely across private sector markets and this has resulted in slower receipts generally. Working capital management continues to be a high priority. WSP remains confident that the group is well placed to trade through the current economic environment and to take advantage when markets improve. Results for the six months ended 30th June 2009 which will be announced on 27th July 2009. | etome
