Posted at 27/5/2015 17:18 by castleford tiger CaveatI have been expressing my opinion on the company for a long time. Well before you bought in. As a pretty good Bean counter and an investor of many years I spotted issues here. I thought this may be a good buy at one stage. Anyway you can filter me or just ignore me...........I certainly don't want you as my friend. Nocton Cash is short and its short now. I am not sure with their backs to the wall they can do it fast enough. They raised the last lot at a crazy price.Costs were too high and the final payment for Bolton Fell just went into a black hole. The compost market is at its peak now and they need cash!! Invoice discounting? or is that in place? I really don't like it and see shareholders getting wiped out. Callum We have all had them( sometimes too many) and cutting now may be the best you could do.I often hang on too long!! as every guys DYOR Tiger |
Posted at 29/7/2013 23:37 by cyfran101 Quite unbelievable. In comes another trading update that rams home the message that they cannot recover from the spring start, the pressure of covering the deficit with Syperfyba was such that they took shortcuts that will now cause further production costs and they now hope the peat harvest will salvage some hope. Taking all this into account the share price merely retreats to the level prior to the build up to the trading update. Investors possibly taking comfort that they are holding at a level just under the last director buy. Give me a nudge when its sub 80p, possibly when they nail it to each shareholders head how bad it is. |

Posted at 08/4/2013 06:36 by drewz EJ, we all know what the weather has been like. What we don't know is the extent to which the bad weather has impacted SNCL's sales. They imply the impact has been significant but appear afraid to give any clear guidance to investors. Simply not good enough. |
Posted at 08/4/2013 06:16 by edmondj Maybe a bit harsh, drewz, although they are 'wearing hope on their sleeve' entertaining the prospect they will make up any shortfall very soon! I think it's a fair inference from the garden centres' levels of activity, demand must be down for Sinclair's products; but if the weather was to suddenly warm then the tills would be ringing. So it's tricky to guide investors right now; if they are negative then they could conceivably have to issue a better update within weeks, leaving sellers anguished.Yet despite promises from the weather forecasters it remains wretchedly cold, I've certainly no desire to do much beyond grass trimming that would require 'growing media' etc; so maybe the sales will be permanently lost. It's still premature to say but I'm not hopeful. |
Posted at 08/4/2013 06:09 by drewz 'SNCL hopes the weather will improve soon and that gardeners will then return to garden centres and start shopping'....Is this a trading update or a weather report? How can they get away with calling this a 'trading update' when they don't give any clear guidance on trading, revenues or profitability? To explain that cold weather is causing delays in consumer spending without mentioning their own financial performance in the light of this adversity is not good enough. SNCL should be censured by the LSE as investors are being short changed here. |
Posted at 19/10/2012 23:08 by drewz Yump, steady on there young fella. You're now, sadly, coming across as the so familiar buy-and-hope 'newbie' investor who gets angry with himself when one of his first speculative punts falls over. When you've been at this game as long as I have, you'll realise that it's all too easy to fall in love with a share and become blinkered and 'rose-tinted' over its prognosis. Not to worry; I am sure you will learn a valuable lesson from this experience. All the best. |
Posted at 05/7/2012 06:48 by drewz Blimey, that was quick. My RNS email alert didn't bring it up for some reason. They are playing down their problems rather: 'continued cash generation' 'continued progressive dividend policy', despite the fact they have less stuff to sell and folk are less inclined to buy it? I have no idea what investors will make of this rather opaque unquantified warning. Hold on for now? Sell? |
Posted at 28/6/2010 09:46 by yump Surprised this hasn't attracted more bb attention.I guess its because peat isn't strictly a commodity, unless we find oil, and how many investors would want to be seen posting on a gardening forum ;-) Mind you, if the price jumps from here then someone must be watching. Perhaps mention of the divi will do it. Last year approx. 3%, this year ? That's without any 'specials.' Looks like both capital growth and divi growth to me. |
