The Secretary of State has approved WHAM Energy Plc to exercise any function of organising or supervising all or any of the operations of searching or boring for petroleum in Block 47/12; subject to routine consents. Under the terms of the licence WHAM Energy will have a 90% equity holding with GTO Ltd retaining a 10% interest. WHAM Energy has undertaken a commitment to acquire 500 kms of high-resolution 2D seismic data and drill one contingent well at the discretion of the Department of Trade and Industry to test the Permian Leman sandstones. Appointment of Finance Director WHAM Energy is pleased to announce effective 1st November the appointment of Mr. Alan Thomas MBA FCA as its new Finance Director. Mr. Thomas is also chairman of the Oil Industry Accounting Committee and has held several non-executive directorships in the sector. Tom Windle, Chief Executive of WHAM Energy, commented "I am very pleased to be able to make these two very positive announcements." "Firstly, the acquisition of a 90% working interest in Block 47/12 fits closely with our stated aim of pursuing acreage in the highly prolific Southern North Sea gas basin. We originally identified this Block as being attractive during the first 'Promote' licence round in 2003. At that time we did not have the resources to make an effective bid. By joining with GTO we have now gained access to the Block and achieved the additional milestone by being awarded the status of operator by the DTI. Both fit with our developing strategy of becoming a significant exploration company in the North Sea hydrocarbon province." "Secondly, I am delighted to welcome Alan to the Board of WHAM. Alan brings a wealth of experience in the industry. He has already contributed as a consultant to the group over the past month and his input has been extremely valuable. Alan will provide strong financial, accounting and strategic business skills to the Company." "Our focus remains on developing our portfolio of North Sea assets where we have a number of significant leads. Action plans for each of assets have been prepared, including plans to drill exploration wells as soon as possible. The acquisition of Block 47/12 that we had previously identified as being attractive and the appointment of a Finance Director are two positive steps to help us fulfill our strategic goals."
