                 Western Coal Closes Acquisition of Energybuild 
 
Vancouver, B.C. August 9, 2010 - Western Coal Corp (TSX: WTN, WTN.WT and AIM: 
WTN) (the "Company" or "Western") is pleased to announce further to the 
announcements made on July 19, 2010 and June 8, 2010, that all the conditions of 
the scheme of arrangement ("Scheme") between Energybuild Group plc have been 
satisfied and the Scheme has become effective today. 
 
In accordance with the Scheme, a total of 8,551,578 new Western common shares 
will be issued today with trading of these shares on AIM expected to commence at 
8:00am (UK) on 10 August 2010. 
 
After this issue, the total number of issued and outstanding Western common 
shares is 345,195,111, including 72,122,826 issued and outstanding shares held 
by a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company. As a result, 273,072,285 common 
shares are held by the public.
