SEPTEMBER 2003 - PRE CLOSE TRADING UPDATE



VT Group plc today issues the following statement before going into close
period.  The company's interim results will be announced at 7.00 am on Tuesday
11 November 2003.



In line with the guidance given at the company's Annual General Meeting on 8
July 2003, we expect overall performance at the half year to be in line with our
expectations, with strong performance in our Support Services business
offsetting slower progress in the Shipbuilding division.



In July we sold our Naval Marine and Oil and Gas businesses for a combined
consideration of #13m.  This, together with the advance payment received on the
recently awarded Greek Fast Attack Craft follow on contract, means that,
excluding PFI debt of #80m, we will be in a positive net cash position at the
end of September.
