Victorludorum - I'm not sure if this is it at all - but I do remember one particular individiual investor being interested in Telspec (for a while now) and he had been taking on stock back then (not sure what he was doing recently) - I think they used to call him "black prince" or some such...

Sitting on the sidelines and warming the bench is never any fun. It seems that after months of uncertainties, recently released data shows that investors are starting to get back into the game. This indicates that investors are becoming more optimistic about the market's performance in the next few months. In order to forge ahead with renewed confidence, register your email address with this newsletter. It will point you in the right direction by notifying you when an undervalued share is about to move. It's free and you can cancel at any time. These shares are traded in the US markets.

Anyone know what yesterday's rise was all about ? Both the pattern and level of buying for TSP was extremely unusual( welcome nontheless ) ...more so considering no RNS or other breaking news to which it could be attributed.

The size of the buys looked private investor rather than institutional and so I'm left wondering what information are they acting on...as a regular TSP watcher I'm not aware of anything...not at least anything that is in the public domain although I'm not up to date on brokers recommendations .

Comments anyone ?

There has been increased buy over the past few days is this due just to improving market sentiment and speculative buying, or is the buying due to those in the know buying on the back of imminent positive news, I wish I knew which it were, I know what I want it to be. After all were well over due some good news.

Telspec plc

AGM Statement, Board Appointment and AGM outcome

At today's AGM the Chairman, Peter Espenhahn, made the following statement:

"Market conditions for both our access and our switching products remain
difficult, with many customers deferring investment decisions. As a result,
sales for the first half of the year will be significantly below those for the
first half of last year.

We have, however, mitigated the effect on profits by continuing to focus on
cutting costs to a level more appropriate to the reduced sales base and by
controlling working capital and conserving cash.

We have at the same time continued to invest in product development in order to
keep our product portfolio competitive and to address additional market
segments."

Board Appointment

The Chairman also announced the appointment to the Board of Jeff May who has
been with Telspec since July 1997 and is the Group Sales and Marketing Director.
Jeff, an Economics Graduate, is 44 years old and has over 20 years' experience
in telecoms.

AGM Outcome

All the resolutions put to the meeting were duly passed. Resolution 7, relating
to an increase in the permissible limit on fees payable to directors was,
however, withdrawn and not put to the meeting.

Thanks Victor - any clue on what they are spending so much R&D on? Any new/exciting products etc? Also why the heck are they spending so much on R&D if their past R&D spends have delivered so little actual profit?

Oh Well hard to be inconspicuous when you are the only shareholder that turns up.
Not a great deal to add to the RNS other than the Directors appear focussed on ensuring Telspec remains able through a sound operating base and product stream to benefit from the upturn when it comes.I certainly did not get the feel that we would see it this year however so I'm not expecting any upward movement in the share price during that time. I'm afraid this carries on being a LTH.

Hope we all don't snooze off in the mean time.

Thanks for the info...it's at 12.00 noon apparently.I think I'll pop along and see what Magnus and the board have to say for themselves.

Why is it the words waiting and Godot spring to mind....it's about time some of the hefty R and D spend produced more tangible results.

In the annual report it has Tuesday 15th of May 2003 but the 15th is Thursday
so it looks like it they have the day wrong but not the date.

It will be held at the offices of Credit Lyonnais Securities,Broadwalk House
5 Appold Steet,London

Hope this helps.

If you assume that they so drastically undervalued then why are they not buying back their own shares for cancellation? Also with such a huge R&D spend - what the heck are they developing & is there any chance of its giveing them above average sales and profits in the future?
