RNS Number:9051W Tadpole Technology PLC 9 January 2001 Tadpole-Cycle Completes First Motorola Military Hardware Order Mobile computing and network infrastructure vendor Tadpole Technology plc today announces that its newly-formed hardware division, Tadpole-Cycle, has completed its first significant contract from Motorola Inc. The order, with a total value of $750,000, covers the supply of custom, high-density computer boards for use in Motorola's Systems Solutions for the Global Mission - battlespace proven systems used by international military and government customers to support a wide range of global missions. One of the most advanced C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence)systems ever developed, Motorola's mobile deployment systems allow military commanders to visualise situations with a fidelity never before possible and take decisions with the highest possible certainty. A mobile system for rapid deployment, it supports a wide range of global missions including wartime battlefield management, low, medium and high-intensity crisis management, peace keeping operations, war on drugs, and contingency operations. Harnessing the power and flexibility of Tadpole-Cycle's compute intense, small footprint systems, Motorola's Global Missions solutions provide real-time, correlated displays of Moving Target Indicator (MTI), Signal Intelligence (SIGINT), Imagery and other data. Display screens can be captured and disseminated to commanders, fire support, and Image Product Libraries. The system is compliant with the Defense Information Infrastructure Common Operating Environment (DII COE). Tadpole-Cycle was created by Tadpole just three weeks ago following the acquisition of Cycle Computer Corporation to extend its business in the Sun-Solaris computing world. Merging Tadpole's existing hardware division, Tadpole-RDI, with Cycle, the combined entity has a unique portfolio of powerful and compact solutions for Sun Microsystems' customers in industry, commerce and government. The portfolio comprises portable workstations and servers that take the cost out of mobile computing, and high-density, rack mountable and embedded systems that challenge the concept of limited computing capability in space-restricted areas, or in keeping existing UltraSPARC hardware abreast of technological progress and capability. Tadpole-Cycle is headquartered in Carlsbad, California with operations in Cupertino, Silicon Valley and Europe. Bernard Hulme, group chief executive of Tadpole Technology, comments: "Motorola's advanced field solution well-illustrates the value of Tadpole's unique hardware offerings as infrastructures for the Sun-computing world - compute-dense, compact solutions that can be used in any number of space restricted conditions, such as Humvee military deployment vehicles."
