27/8/2009 23:57 | hello nick, current share price is around 40% of nav, but i tend to look at it from the perpsective of netting the goodwill which brings it down to nav, still meaning that the on current share price there is no value in the share price given to business, so there should be plenty of upside imo, worth keeping an eye on for movement on the share price as it appears to have neen flat lining for a while, just need to catch it on the break | empirestate

23/2/2009 18:55 | Huge drop today on very little volume. All construction consultants being hammered down. Must see some takeovers or consolidation in the sector at some stage with valuations so low. rik | rik shaw
22/12/2008 14:30 | Figures look great considering and certainly not worthy of such a sell off. Clearly wrong sector at the wrong time. | newsh

15/2/2008 07:25 | vino, I had the opportunity to buy shares in the BQS placing and take EIS relief. (Hence 8p, not 10p.) I passed it by (the market as a whole was horrible), and looked at this as a similar company. "Investors Champion" (the broker I'd have gone with) wrote a 2-page note (28/11/07) which summarised:: Assuming the company manages to raise the whole £2m, the market cap of the combined group will be approximately £9.5m putting it on an 11x valuation. Cyril Sweett are currently trading at 13.6x If you want the full note, post up your e-mail address and then delete it after just one second - I'll be able to recover it. | jonwig
14/2/2008 21:39 | Hi jonwig, interested in your comment about BQS Please if you have the time can you tell me a bit about them as there is no discussion on the ADVFN site. I believe there is some consolidation a foot and what to know what the plus points of BQS are. many thanks | vino
03/2/2008 19:43 | Hi, Charley. Thanks for the information - I haven't looked into that angle. What rather impressed was the way business was holding up. But then looking at the rating, it's fairly generous anyway. A more recent float, Baqus [BQS] might be a better proposition. | jonwig
03/2/2008 19:17 | Didn't do the same for me, jonwig - he seemed to have been rather taken by surprise that people were presenting their own Companies to Cyril Sweett as takeover propositions (or mergers) after CSG floated. Did he not know that big lottery winners are beseiged by lots of 'opportunities' after they win. This is not far off the same thing for CSG Directors - suddenly lots of cash - and paper that is more valuable (still) than before the float. I'd offer my partnership to them if WE were all in our fifties and needed an exit route! Also, I am wary that they were a firm fully owned by their Staff (incl Directors) before floatation. I understand the big shareholders had to sell a third of their holding to provide equity at the float. But all the staff would have been buying or getting their shares at much less than the present level. I believe that some might have been as low as 10 or 15p in the 1998 MBO that Mr Webster talks about in his first paragraph. If that is right then many staff have a nice profit to take at some point - I think there may be some continual selling from them. I bought some around 110p but am out now. I'll keep an eye on them for a lower entry point next time. | charleyduck
02/2/2008 09:43 | Thanks rik. Optimistic chap, isn't he!! However, I'm more likely to be a buyer after reading that. | jonwig
15/1/2008 12:10 | I imagine, NEWSH, that a company describing itself as an ... international construction and property consultancy providing quantity surveying, project management and management consultancy services will be swept up in the malaise surrounding commercial, residential and construction sectors! The should make eps of at least 7p this full year (3.7p at half time, but more shares in issue now) so the rating looks cheap - trouble is, other similar companies are on similar ratings. If you're in here for the long term, you should be OK. It's just an unpopular sector. | jonwig |
