Launch of global soccer league competition - "The Game by Ronaldo"

Sports Stars Media plc ("Sports Stars"), the Portuguese based sports animation and media company, announces that it has reached an agreement with the world famous football star Cristiano Ronaldo, for the launch of a new global crowdsourced football competition to be known as "The Game by Ronaldo" (the "Game").

Cristiano Ronaldo is recognised as one of the best footballers in the world and his transfer fee from Manchester United to Real Madrid for GBP80million in 2009 is still a world record for a football player. A Portuguese international with over 100 caps for his country, Ronaldo is the most popular athlete in the world with over 55 million Facebook and 20 million Twitter followers.

The Game by Ronaldo competition has been developed entirely by the Sports Stars Media creative and technology team based in Dubai. The Game is a 5-a-side football championship played by teams around the world with prizes awarded to teams who improve their ranking and advance furthest through the competition. Teams will enter their details online and then, based on geographical location and with the help of the software platform, will locate and contact suitable opponents according to ranking position, schedule availability and other variables to create fixture lists that have to be honoured within certain time frames so as to ensure that the competition progresses.

Entry into the Game is based on the freemium model whereby entrants are able to play a limited number of games in a month free of cost, but thereafter, have to pay in order to progress further in the competition. The freemium model has proven to be a success in many online gaming companies and helps to create traction and commitment.

The Game by Ronaldo will commence with a pre-launch marketing campaign aimed at creating the initial team base for the official launch on October 29(th) 2013. The campaign will also consist of promotions from Ronaldo to his 75 million followers on Twitter and Facebook which will provide Sports Stars with easy access to an existing audience of football fans.

This is the second high profile deal with leading football personalities achieved by Sports Stars Media and follows on from the recently announced broadcast agreement with the Portuguese TV channel, SIC for the broadcast of Mourinho and his Special Ones.
