    SMC Group Plc ("SMC", the "Company" or the "Group")

    Non-Executive Directorate Appointment

    SMC Group Plc, the architects and design business, is pleased to announce that following the invitation extended by the Board of SMC at
the completion of the Open Offer in January 2008, David Nazar has been appointed to the Board of SMC as a Non-Executive Director with
immediate effect. 

    David is the Managing Partner of Ironshield Capital Management LLP ("Ironshield"), the investment manager to the Ironshield Special
Situations Master Fund LP, which in December 2007 underwrote the £15.1 million Open Offer of the Company. Prior to his position at
Ironshield, David was a principal at Bank of America in London. David has 11 years' experience in special situations investing and
investment banking, having previously worked for Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and Salomon Brothers. David has a BA degree in Natural
Sciences from Cambridge University.

    Sir Rodney Walker, Executive Chairman, said: "I am extremely pleased that David has been able to join the Board and I look forward to
working with him to continue the improvements in the business that have taken place in recent times."

    The Company is required to disclose under the AIM Rules for Companies the following information in relation to the appointment of David
Anthony Nazar (age 36) as a Director of the Company.

    David Nazar does not own any ordinary shares in SMC. Ironshield acts as investment manager to funds which own 173,876,107 ordinary
shares of one half pence each in the capital of the Company, being approximately 73.07 per cent. of the ordinary shares of the Company in
issue.

    There is no further information, in connection with the appointment of David Nazar to the Board of SMC, which is required to be
disclosed in accordance with Rule 17 and Schedule 2(g) of the AIM Rules for Companies.
