PUBLICATION OF CIRCULAR

Smaller Companies Value Trust PLC (the "Company") has today posted a circular (the "Circular") to shareholders convening an extraordinary general meeting on 30 April 2009 at which resolutions will be put to shareholders to put the Company into a members' voluntary liquidation. The Company's articles of association (the "Articles") require that a shareholder meeting be convened no later than 30 April 2009 to propose a resolution to put the Company into a members' voluntary winding up.
The Board are proposing that the Company be wound up voluntarily in accordance with the Articles.
As described in the Circular, it is intended that the Company's ordinary shares be suspended from listing on the Official List of the UK Listing Authority and from trading on the London Stock Exchange at 7.30 a.m. on 30 April 2009 and that listing of those shares be cancelled no later than 8.00 a.m. on 1 May 2009.
Copies of the Circular have been submitted to the FSA, and will shortly be available for inspection at the FSA's Document Viewing Facility which is situated at:
