Skywest Granted FIFO Contract with Major Mining Company

Skywest, the Australian and South East Asia regional airline, is pleased to announce that it has signed a scheduled charter contract with Rio Tinto to provide air charter services to Boolgeeda in the Pilbara region of Western Australia for the Brockman 4 mine and surrounding mines.

The Initial services to Boolgeeda commenced in December. Over the three year contract term, Skywest anticipates operating up to eight return trip services per week with Airbus A320 and Fokker 100 aircraft. The new services to Boolgeeda are in addition to the existing services Skywest already provides to Rio Tinto.

Executive Chairman, Jeff Chatfield said: "We are delighted to have secured this contract with Rio Tinto Iron Ore. This further strengthens our relationship with it while also further underpinning our scheduled FIFO charter business, which provides visible, growing long-term revenue stream."
