NEW YORK, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A deal brokered by producer Andrew Adelson, IFC Entertainment, one of the leading distributors of independent and foreign films, and Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) (NASDAQ: SBSA) today announced a broad marketing partnership between IFC Films and Mega Films (the film division of SBS) for the release of FALLING AWAKE in January 2010. IFC Films will release the film theatrically in late January in select markets including New York and Miami, with a simultaneous release nationwide on demand. Spanish Broadcasting System, the largest publicly traded Hispanic-controlled media and entertainment company in the U.S. will in turn support the release with a multi-million dollar program of advertising and promotion throughout their nationwide network of television, radio and internet outlets. FALLING AWAKE, the first English-language production from Mega Films, is directed by Agustin ("Gabriel", EL VACILON), the Managing Director of Mega Films, and produced by Andrew Adelson and Executive Produced by Steven Molasky, Dean Valentine, Brad Friedmutter and Raul Alarcon, President, CEO and Chairman of SBS. The film stars Jenna Dewan (STEP UP), Nicholas Gonzalez ("Melrose Place") and newcomer Andrew Cisneros. FALLING AWAKE tells the powerful story of Jay (Andrew Cisneros), a young Latino musician in the Bronx who struggles to find his identity in a home crowded with family members and a neighborhood of loyal friends and dangerous enemies. After he meets the beautiful Brooklynite Alessandra (Jenna Dewan), his determination to become a musician appears even stronger. But, he is tied by loyalty to his friends, his brother (Nicholas Gonzalez), who recently returned home from the war, and by the expectations of his frustrated, angry father (Nestor Serrano). As Jay fights to break free of the cycles of anger and violence that grip his life and his neighborhood, he learns that only love can help him grasp his elusive chance at happiness, and comes to a new understanding that helps him take the long, uncertain leap into his future. Director Agustin said, "It is fantastic to have the opportunity to work with a company like IFC Films that understands the strength and reach of SBS and Mega Films within the 40 million strong U.S. Hispanic market. I think the coming together of our audiences is precisely what FALLING AWAKE is about." Jonathan Sehring, President of IFC Entertainment said, "SBS and IFC together are a potent team and are ideal partners for the release of FALLING AWAKE. Our combined areas of expertise should ensure this terrific film finds the widest possible audience." http://www.spanishbroadcasting.com/.
