18/11/2004 20:01 | SIR plc are a player in the education sector. Word is that RM were looking at buying the cmpany some time ago but did not go ahead. From my contacts in the sector it would appear that their sales have struggled for some time. It would appear that the business they are in is a couple of years ahead of its time. I personally would have thought the timeis ripe for investing in this company. There is however a need for quality tech suport as schools costs for netwrk support and maintenence has escalated. RMs virtual monopoly in the hardware market has led to them pushing for a bigger market share of the support and installations business. Their flagship solution RM assist howeveris not selling as much as they would like. This is largely due to the fact that their flagship "Community Connect 3" (soon to be 3.1) has been increasingly given the boot by schools. Schools have found that the overall functionality is that of a "rolls royce" when all they need is a "vauxhall Omega", As more schools move away from RM networks (solely supported by RM)and towards "Vanilla " (2000/2003 server networks) there may be room for SYI to increase its market share. Worth watching | giggsy
18/11/2004 15:50 | I'm a bit confused with the pe ratio. On advfn.com it reads 11, but with a mcap of £7m and profits of 339k, to me I work this out excluding the tax element at 21, and taking 30% at 35. | guru11

13/4/2004 10:28 | Can someone tell us about those large sells on 7th April? £2m (34m volume) Who would be selling such a massive % of shares in issue, and why? Will the volume cause a stock overhang that the MM's will need to clear? Will the MM's raise the price in order to generate interest? Then drop it back once the overhang has been cleared? or will they drop the price; offer at a discount to clear sells? | megsta
