RNS Number:3581R Silverjet PLC 02 April 2008 2 April 2008 Silverjet plc March 2008 Passenger and Traffic statistics 23% increase in passenger numbers Silverjet plc ("Silverjet"), the British exclusively business class only airline, today announces another record set of passenger and traffic statistics for March 2008. 1-31 March 2008 Available seats 16,800 Revenue seats(1) 10,885 Load factor 65% On time departures(2) 81% (1) 'Revenue seats' represents the number of seats generating commercial revenue and also passengers on non-refundable tickets that have not flown. (2) 'On time' is defined as departure within 15 minutes of scheduled departure time. Lawrence Hunt, Chief Executive of Silverjet, said: "We are delighted to report another record month of passenger statistics with all three of our daily flights increasing again. March gave us our highest ever monthly revenues having achieved over 10,000 revenue seats for the first time. In addition passenger numbers grew by 23% over February despite an early Easter falling during the month, a traditionally quieter period for business travellers. "Whilst the economic climate is very challenging for all airlines, Silverjet's fares at up to 50% discount to legacy airlines business class fares are attracting an increasing number of corporate customers. "Although Silverjet didn't generate an operating profit and was not cash generative in March, excluding the discontinued Flyjet operations it did record both the largest ever gross profit and the smallest operating loss since we started flying multiple aircraft, despite a further material increase in our fuel costs. This is solid progress towards our objective of becoming profitable as quickly as possible in a difficult market." - ends - For further information, please contact: Silverjet 020 7357 9477 Lawrence Hunt, Chief Executive Hogarth Partnership Limited 020 7357 9477 Fiona Noblet Sarah Richardson Arden Partners 020 7398 1638 Chris Fielding Tom Fyson Notes to Editors * Silverjet offers 6 foot 3 inch long inclined flat beds, high quality catering, personalised entertainment and reduced check-in times (30 minutes with only carry-on baggage) from London Luton to New York Newark and Dubai. * Incline flat bed at one third of the market price - £1,099 standard return fare compared with over £3,000 from competitors. * Daily London Luton to New York Newark flights (local time): - Departs LTN at 10.00 arrives 13.00 - Departs LTN at 18.00 arrives 21.00* - Departs EWR at 19.30 arrives 07.40 - Departs EWR at 22.30 arrives 10.40* * Daily flights London Luton to Dubai (local time): - Departs LTN at 21.55 arrives 08.30 - Departs DXB at 10.30 arrives 15.45 * The Silver Lounge is a private terminal at London Luton Airport, opposite the main terminal building, with dedicated security enabling customers with only carry-on baggage to arrive 30 minutes before departure (45 minutes for customers with baggage to check in).
