appears three big sales - yet still on the up - cannot believe it is just a broker recommendation causing this

It's moving up on low trading - spread becoming larger - something about to happen?

It's over £3! 50% increase since summer. Further consolidation of consultancy market in UK a possibility and RPS a ripe candidate even with share price hike.

What I should have said is cannot see these going over 299p, seems resistance and profit taking after a good run. Results good but as expected, should see them go back on the upwards path after few weeks.Look forward to brokers ratings now the results are out..

Results due next week, cannot see these below 299p after they announce figures and progress on recent acquisitions.

This sector has been characterised by several t/o's in the last 5 years or so - large international consultancies seeking growth through acquisition and buying league 2 UK companies with an international spread. It has enabled them (mainly US companies) to gain new markets. However, there have been a couple of notable UK failures with s/h's incurring very heavy losses. IMHO RPS and Hyder are potential targets and will anyway experience solid growth irrespective. I have to say I am overweight in both these shares having bought 3/4 years ago - so clearly the profits maybe dimming my sight. Have been tempted to lock in profits - but clearly difficult when both are rolling upwards and outperforming the market.

Agreed 25b. Bought in back in July this year and it is has exceeded my short term expectations. I had originally set a target price of 265 but this is now well forgotten with the recent upgrades and I shall continue to enjoy the ride. I note from IG Market data that the Brokers covering this stock show seven out of nine of them giving a Strong Buy recommendation and the other two a Buy recommendation. Heady stuff. Shall hold and buy on any weakness. CH.

If I could suggest that this is no longer 'solid stuff' rather somewhat dynamic. Panmure's target price will soon need revision. I suspect RPS remains an attractive t/o target for some of the bigger fish in the global consultancy market.

I do not like that management's discussion of trading results does not consider the impact of acquisitions & disposals and the impact of currency movements.

Has anyone spotted an analysis of these matters?

4 brokers rating a buy after the results.jP Morgan going for overweight and price target 323p but feel it would be 2014 before we get anywhere close to that :-)Lowest price is 275p which seems very fair..

Oh dear, today's trading statement looks like a mild profits warning in fact to my view a very poorly worded trading statement: not good PR at all and zero marks here from me for RPS with such a muddy statement. Certainly taken by the market as such and to my mind the stock does not look attractive enough now to hold on to. Only have a few £k of these in my ISA but decided to sell as trailing stop triggered.

Downgraded by PG - keeps hitting highs - par for the course.

Maybe t/o in the frame again like the other UK consultancies over the last 3 years.

Decent set of results today from RPS.
A good solid business:
Record PBTA up 18%
Debt now at 8 year low
Dividend up 15% to 6.4p (not massive but a handy 2.7%)

I guess the market didn't like the RNS: essentially good for the current FY but you'll have to wait for the medium term before we get more growth. In the next FY there is likely to be a contraction rather than growth. IMHO.
