Evening thegrafter:
I have a real dislike of BB's. One of the issues somewhat overlooked but one that worries me is the reduction of the number of shares issued as a by-product of the BB. This makes it easier for a disruptive large investor to get a grip on the company, possibly even to make a bid.
I appreciate RR has a 'golden share' held by the UK government so a takeover may not be on the cards, but I really do fail to understand why spending cash to buy back one's own shares benefits anybody other than possibly the directors who's bonus system is related to EPS.
I'll keep quiet now on this thread in respect of the BB as the subject has been debated to death on numerous other threads. But, I greatly appreciate your polite and sensible view expressed in #4274. In fact, all your posts are sensible.
I'll try to keep mine likewise going forward.
And......it's Bourbon and Dry Ginger time. Yipee!

BP are reducing renewables because O&G is more profitable in the short/ medium term and BP has a performance problem that has increasingly put it at risk of being weakest in its sector comparators and at risk of being a takeover target.
Itââ¬â¢s short term survival as an organisation is its higher priority.
