                  Statement regarding share price movement
                                      
                                      
Regent Inns PLC has noted the fall in its share price over the last two days
and reports that it knows of no reason for this.
 
On the trading front like for like sales in recent weeks, during a period of
poor weather conditions, have been comparable to those of the same period
last year. Sales on a like for like basis, for the first 51 weeks trading,
are up 8% against the same period last year.  Trading and profitability for
the full year, which ends on 5 July, is anticipated to be in line with market
expectations.
 
The group's investment programme in new larger sites is expected to continue
to generate high rates of return.
