Hi Dunnie,
what price did you get the warrants at? There's a huge spread. Still holding my original buy at 6p.

Good news for RSS if the find is substantial and adds to the very significant and recent stakes taken by Nordea Bank SA (10.12%) and JP Morgan (15.19%) which I see as a tremendous indicator for the upside potential of the share price before the year is out. These two are NOT in here for the fun of it.

Just got the month to date figure for the Special Situations Fund and the fund was up a whopping 6.37% at the close of business last night, which is up a further 3% in the last week alone. The current share price and particularly the warrants look excellent value at current levels.

It's also a good way of gaining exposure to Oxus and similar companies without taking undue risk. Given the volatile nature of such shares it makes more sense to access them via an investment trust such as Rab's who know the industry inside out. I wish I could buy more of RSS at current prices, but at the moment my money is tied up elsewhere.

Just bought 200,000 RSSA warrants as i know the SSFund is floating two companies in the next couple of weeks,Intl Ferro Metals and ACTA S.P.A. this will give the nav a massive boost as unlisted investments are held in the fund at cost until flotation, thereby giving the fund a massive boost when floated.RAB used the same strategy last year when bringing Asia Energy,Falkland Oil & Gas and Falkland Gold and others to the market.

RAB Spec Sits holds 9.8% pre admission. Admission date is 4.10.05. No further details, other than incorporated in Italy to develop and produce platinum-free catalysts and membranes for the fuel cell industry.
This will give a big uplift to the SSFund as unlisted investments are held in the portfoilio at cost until they IPO,thereby giving a big surge in value.

NAV rising steadily, institutions buying, gold/oil on the rise...its only a matter of time before this share trades at premium. IMHO

See my earlier comments on investment trusts, which are traded in themselves, not necessarily responding directly to net asset value. Is this not acknowledged?

EJ, maybe one of the regulars here can come up with some reasons.. If not, I'll avoid.

Indeed the relatively stagnant share price is curious when this Aim-listed company is (to my understanding) pretty much seamless with the original special sits hedge fund (via a 'Master' strategy) and yet there is so much action in smaller resources shares plus the RAB special sits fund.

I am not 100% up to date on this fund because I felt it best to let it settle down after flotation, but its shares are still curious.

Qn and comment for end of the week:
are RSS entirely invested now in Mining stocks ( ie not oil stocks)? what are the current investments? I believe some of the cash is invested in otehr RAB funds? and my comment is: its odd that when the mining sector especially the small caps now is starting to show advances ( maybe seasonal, maybe for other reasons, maybe both) that RSS is not on the up and up now. SOmething is holding it back - but what.
I've over-invested in CBM in particular,as I'm not confidence investing here - yet.

... whcih is reflected in the price. I was hoping for something more in the NAV by this time, lots of the underlying investments are booming (see the RAB BB).

RAB SPECIAL SITUATIONS COMPANY LIMITED (the "Company")

The Directors today announce that the estimated Net Asset Value per Ordinary

As an investment trust, price depends on buys/sells as well as asset value. My guess is that price won't move much unless there are large buys, or/and net asset value rises so that share price gives say 10% discount.

The holders of this are getting screwed in comparison to the gains being made on the actual fund. The actual fund is +5.5% in August alone as detailed in the FT at the weekend, where as this listing hasnt even budged.

admonishment to sell RSSB seems a little harsh. For believers in RSS's future this is a useful punt on their mid-term future provided not overdone. I hold RSS and a smaller amount of RSSB which, admittedly, I am prepared to write off if necessary. The benefit seems worth the risk to my mind, though admittedly it is risky. Perhaps you are applying a more complex model to the warrants.

RSSB is overpriced.
If you own it, time to sell.
Put the money into RSS, if you want to stay long RSS
