RNS Number:7600U QuikTrak Networks PLC 29 January 2004 29 January 2004 QUIKTRAK SECURES MAJOR ORDER FROM ADDISON LEE QuikTrak Networks plc (Ticker "QTR"), the secure tracking and data messaging network operator, announces a private placement on the 28th January whereby the Company raised #1.5 M through placing 12.5 million new ordinary 1p shares at 12p per share. The total number of shares in issue is now 59,639,727. Of this amount, #198,000 was subscribed by the Directors of the Company. In addition, QuikTrak announces that Addison Lee, London's largest courier service, has placed a significant order for 800 tracking units. Specifically, the order is for the QT6050, a covert, secure and reliable tracking device for use in cars and vans. The QuikTrak technology will be used to locate and track Addison Lee vehicles. Using the QuikTrak network, the company will be able to constantly pinpoint the location of its vehicles and allocate jobs more efficiently. Chris Kyriakou, CEO of QuikTrak commented: "Following successful trials of our technology by Addison Lee, I am very pleased to announce this order, which has been agreed for an initial period of five years. This is the beginning of a partnership which will enable us to grow our respective businesses together, both technically and commercially. The technology will allow Addison Lee to track all vehicles simultaneously, and, as part of the long-term commitment, all future Addison Lee vehicles will be fitted with the QuikTrak system." John Griffin, Chairman of Addison Lee added: "Addison Lee is the market leader in moving people and parcels in London. We are delighted to be the first company in our sector in the UK formally to adopt QuikTrak, using their dedicated spread-spectrum radio network to locate and handle communications. This enables us to keep track of our vehicles at all times and retrace data. To date, any other tracking solution we have assessed has proved just too expensive, without the performance. We have been able to implement QuikTrak at a fraction of the cost." - ends - For further information: Chris Kyriakou/Annie Richards QuikTrak Networks plc 0870 010 6044 James Chandler Beattie Financial 020 7398 3308 Notes To Editors QuikTrak QuikTrak is a telecommunications business that specialises in secure, reliable and low-cost location, real-time tracking and mobile data communications. The Company provides solutions for locating and tracking vehicles, people and mobile assets through a terrestrial positioning network based on patented technology. QuikTrak is able to locate objects or people that may be hidden from view; unlike GPS-GSM systems it is almost impossible to jam and does not require ' line-of-sight'. This difference not only makes QuikTrak more effective and more secure than existing tracking technologies but the system provides a lower cost alternative to other tracking solutions available in the market. QuikTrak Technology Applications The potential applications for the technology are diverse, but currently QuikTrak is focussing on a number of key areas including: * Lone Worker Protection - tracking of individuals who work alone such as emergency services workers. The QuikTrak technology is to be trialled by a number of UK police forces, local councils, service organisations and Primary Health Care Trusts. * Commercial Fleet and Personnel Management - tracking of commercial vehicles such as courier or freight companies. In this market the QuikTrak technology is currently being trialled by companies such as a leading London-based courier company and utility and services organisations. * Security Systems - such as asset security (for example cars, motorbikes, plant and equipment) and alarm systems. In this market QuikTrak is currently being trialled by a number of high profile companies. QuikTrak Revenue Model QuikTrak earns revenue from the sale of the tracking/messaging device. Ongoing revenue is then secured by charging a recurring annual connection fee and for ' airtime usage.' The business model aims to partner with service providers in specific sectors rather than seek to sell directly into the sector.
