Seems a lot of restaurants are doing well around here.

We have one of MAB's Vintage Inn just up the road to us, car park full today and they are parking down the street. Raymon Blank did that TV series where the couple get to run a restaurant - that's in Thame too - couldn't get booked in this weekend.

As an aside we went to the garden centre today, parked outside on the road because this Wyevale's carpark was full.

Recession? what recession?

CR - I agree with your thoughts & always a chance of a take over. I believe my local PRZ turns over 8k+ a week, rent of building 40k pa + business rates circa 15k.

Yep, we have one about 7 miles away from me in Thame, Oxon. It gets packed on a Friday and Sat recently and amazed how many they get during the week in the daytime. I suppose it's a decent size lunch and at a good price for many.

The adjusted pre-tax profit came in £1m ahead of S.Pierce's forecasts and I'm conviced retail across the board this year is doing better than the market is pricing.

This was in the Scotsman in March:

"Italian restaurant chain Prezzo is set to report lower annual profits on Thursday despite stronger trading in the second half of 2009.

In January, the pizza and pasta firm said results for the year to 27 December would be better than City hopes, although the company expects "challenging" economic conditions to persist throughout 2010.

Prezzo is fighting in a highly competitive market, while January's return of VAT to 17.5 per cent is likely to squeeze margins in the year ahead.

The firm, which currently has 138 restaurants, has nonetheless decided to maintain its expansion plans with the opening of a further ten outlets this year.

Seymour Pierce analyst Hugh-Guy Lorriman predicts underlying pre-tax profits will fall from £11.5m to £10.8m for 2009, but says the group's low-cost model is undervalued by the market.

I think the market has been re-rating these over the past week but reckon there's still a fair way to go when the concensus forecasts have risen 20% this week and I bet they are conservative.

Reckon there's a fair rise in these over the next week or two the way these were moving on Friday imo.

On the move now

50p+ must be fair value imo.

Brokers were forecasting 2.78p for this year just a week ago - now forecasting 3.6p.

Big cashflow too for cheap expansion.

Seen all the buying?

Seen the broker upgrades?

Gonna fly at some point soon imo.

Yes, good set of numbers; management seem intent on playing down progress though, or certainly being very cautious.

Yes, can't help thinking an MBO is on the cards here at some point, when they can get the financing together. Only moderate upside if that is the case, as us small shareholders will not be the winners. Happy to hold though.

Solid, if unspectacular results. IMHO, a very safe haven in current uncertain times.
