                        Appointment of Chief Executive


Oasis  Stores Plc, the women's fashion retailer, is pleased to announce  today
the appointment to the board of Mr Derek Lovelock as Chief Executive.

Mr  Lovelock, aged 49, has extensive retail industry experience, most recently
on  the board of Sears Plc. As Chief Executive of Sears Clothing Ltd., he  had
responsibility for a division with a turnover of approximately  #700  million,
encompassing  Wallis, Warehouse, Miss Selfridge, Richards,  Outfit  and  Adams
Childrenswear.

Prior  to joining Sears in 1992, Mr Lovelock spent eight years with Storehouse
Plc where, having spearheaded the creation of a Fashion Division that included
brands  such as Blazer, Jacadi and Anonymous, he was promoted to the board  in
1990 and given responsibility for Mothercare.

Following  the appointment, Michael Bennett (Chairman), Maurice Bennett  (Vice
Chairman)  and Vivian Scott (Managing Director) will remain on  the  board  as
executive directors in their current positions.


Announcing the appointment, Oasis Stores' Chairman, Michael Bennett said:

"Derek  is a vastly experienced retailer with a particularly strong background
in  women's  fashion and we are delighted he has decided  to  join  us.  I  am
convinced he has all the right qualities to take Oasis forward into  the  next
phase  of  its  growth. Continuity will be assured by the founding  directors'
continued involvement in the business."

Derek Lovelock commented:

"At  Sears I had responsibility for businesses in direct competition to Oasis,
so I know what a powerful brand they have built. Oasis has a very strong niche
with the potential for further significant growth and, in Coast, I believe  we
have acquired another very exciting prospect for the future."
