17/1/2001 10:28 | BBC Business news comment at about 6:50 this a.m. said that there might be a management buyout and mentioned a price of £1. It was not clear as usual with this BBC slot where this speculation or price came from. | kjc
17/1/2001 10:17 | Blimey. Up 12p in early trading. Their trading statement yesterday makes it fairly plain that they are looking for a bid. But looking and finding are two very different things, so I can't see what's driven the price up this hard, unless someone out there knows something I don't. Anyone care to speculate? | htayler
25/11/2000 17:01 | Boltworth Sorry, no firm information, just gut feeling. I have felt for a while that retail is oversold and I saw this share as good value when it was almost 50% higher. Notably this increase has occurred after the shares have gone ex-divident, unlike six months ago when there was a small spate of buying prior to the XD date, followed by sustained selling. The retail sector jumped into life after Gordon Brown's announcement of more cash for pensioners which many assumed would be spent in the (clothes?) shops. I can't see many pensioners shopping in Oasis(!), but it does seem to have at least woken up analysts to the oversold position of the whole sector. As per last time, I'm in and I'm staying in. Hope it works out for both of us! Cheers HT | htayler
24/11/2000 19:56 | HTayler Hello again! It seems that things might be on the positve for OAS.Is it just that the drop was overdone or is there some news that i have missed?Look forward to hearing from you. Regards boltworth | boltworth
15/11/2000 21:17 | OAS +3.5p is up again with the rest of the retailers, nice trend on the chart. | master rsi
14/11/2000 22:47 | OAS + 7.5p had a very good day, and with the rise , the share line has crossed the 50 days m.a. With volume on its side the price should keep the uptrend. | master rsi
14/11/2000 12:11 | OAS was marked up to start the day, late buying on lots of 100th and 50th (3) saw the price move up 2p and crossed the 30 days moving average, very positive. | master rsi
14/11/2000 07:38 | Master RSI , See my thread at Chart posted there. Oasis has been rising since November 2, looks like a defensive/recovery situation. Spotted entirely through Sharescope, I have not looked any further. Enjoy jr | jackrussel
12/11/2000 23:14 | Retailers were up after the Budget, as realisation that extra money for pensioners will go for clothing. Also news that George Davies walked away from Asda, wil lhave less competion to margins. M & S +10p Debenhams +9p Brown (N) +5.5p Arcadia +3 Oasis Stores = Oasis did not go up on Friday like the rest , maybe Monday will be a better day, the chart is ready for a rise. | master rsi
12/10/2000 15:15 | Clocktower Thats a fair comment mate but the price i bought these at it wont take to much of a reasonable yield to make it worthwhile keeping them,so long as profits don't dive too much in the future. But i appretiate the comment it helps keep me on my toes and stops me getting complacent,if thats possible in this bloody market. Regards Boltworth | boltworth
12/10/2000 09:55 | Boltworth remember the possible yield is built into the current price. Then what price? | clocktower
12/10/2000 09:12 | HTayler Thanks for that small snippet of info.I've got no intention of selling the holding i've got,it's at a loss anyway, but you are dead right about the divi it'll help soften the blow untill things improve.Look forward to hearing from you in the future when things improve. Regards Boltworth | boltworth
12/10/2000 08:59 | Sorry Boltworth you've got no-one more experienced than me again! Here are my thoughts: Oasis consists of two chains: Oasis and Coast. Last year, Oasis did pretty well and Coast was a dog. This year, the management have turned Coast around - no small achievement - but neglected to improve the deteriorating situation at Oasis. But it's not all bad - stock turnover has improved and the whole retail sector has seen lower profits, so it's not just Oasis suffering in isolation. In the short term the stock probably won't improve much, but longer term I think it's set fair for recovery. One or two fund managers were quietly tucking the shares away at 80p or higher, so I'm not alone in taking this view. At the very least you'll get a good yield come December! | htayler
11/10/2000 20:25 | Hello all Up half a point today in a market so negative. Have we finally hit the bottom.Any comments from traders, more experienced than me,and who could care less, would be greatly appreiciated. Regards boltworth | boltworth
09/10/2000 18:41 | HTayler I think its probabably due to profits drop of approx' 40%. But i'm with you on this one it might take a while but it should recover within the next few years(only joking) i hope. Regards BOLTWORTH | boltworth
04/10/2000 15:51 | What's happened to Oasis? Retail is in the doldrums, but this stock seems to be taking an outrageous hammering. It's currently yielding (I don't have the exact figures to hand) well over 10%, and the forecasts aren't bad, yet it keeps drifting south. I'm in and I'm staying in - I can only see it recovering in the long run, but presumably there's a reason for all this negative sentiment. Anyone got any news? | htayler
16/3/2000 15:47 | Just returned from a shopping trip to the big city and could not help noticing that, of the "in" clothing shops, Oasis appeared to be the busiest by far. Certainly seemed much more popular than New Look, etc. Recall that one of the tipsters on Bloomberg Television a couple of weeks ago was predicting this company would seriously outperform the sector and the share price (80p) has not moved since that time. I'm in for a moderate punt and share the info for what it is worth. (btw - the online broker E*Trade told me that "our market makers do not currently support this stock" the first time I tried to buy. Two minutes later, the trade went through without a hitch. Odd?) | wickhams fancy |
