Letter to RNS

Re : Proposed Interim Dividend for Period ended September 30, 2005

We hereby advise you that on November 9, 2005, the Board of Directors of Nippon
Telegraph and Telephone Corporation ("NTT") approved an interim cash dividend of
3,000 Japanese yen per share of NTT's Common Stock, payable to shareholders of
record as of September 30, 2005. Before this proposed dividend may be paid, it
must be approved by the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications of
Japan.


The interim dividend is scheduled to be payable on December 13, 2005, subject to
the approval of the Minister for Internal Affairs Communications, as aforesaid.
