If you follow MGR you might be interested in this general interview with Gervais - how he got into fund management, influencers, the macro picture, how he's positioning.

The increase in Liontrust AUM - I was only aware of this from their RNS the other day. You can also keep an eye on the factsheets on their website and check for any changes in AUM each month.

The fund range is fairly biased towards UK small caps so should do well if there is some clarity over brexit.

I like Miton, but note that performance on their UK multi cap fund is weak over 1 & 3y (4th quartile),albeit still strong over long-term.

This is by far their biggest and most established fund. Knowing how fickle retail investors are, this could lead to slower inflows in the short term.

Over the longer term shouldn't be too much of an issue as I would expect performance to recover given the pedigree of the fund manager, but just something to keep an eye on.

Miton is not especially cheap on a simple pe measure, but they hold a lot of cash - on an ex-cash basis it looks cheap.

Slightly surprised at level of bounce as nothing particularly unexpected in these results - we knew the AUM already so should have been able to gauge earnings from there.

I really like Miton but slight concern that relative performance of multi cap income fund (by far their main driver of flows) has dipped a bit, now fourth quartile over 3y, albeit still very strong since lainch. That wouldn't bother me but I'm just mindful of how incredibly fickle retail investors are, and I note this fund seems to be in outflow now.

I'm waiting on the sidelines for time being having sold out last year.

I note their biggest fund, and the one accounting for a big chunk of inflows - UK multi cap income - has been a bit weak recently. I think it is 3rd or 4th quartile over 1 and 3 years. Still very strong over 5y and longer

Now this personally wouldn't bother me if I were invested in the fund as I look at long term performance. But I know how incredibly fickle retail investors are - one average year and the money starts going out.

I note also that the multi asset funds (around 20% of AUM) are looking weak - basically 4th quartile over all periods. I susepct there could be outflows here if things don't improve.

For these reasons I sold out a while ago although I do like the company a lot and will try to get back in at some stage.

I’m reminded of history. A third off would be great in the shops. Uniquely, where stocks are concerned, this sends many investors running. It’s the market plus of course asset managers are a geared play up and down. I can’t see anything business related in the public domain. I’d like to see or hear from anyone who saw them present at Mello.
