6 .VIP Domain Names Sell for 1,334,000 CNY at West.CN Auction

Six .VIP premium domains were auctioned on West.CN—a Chengdu-based registrar in China—on May 31st for a total of 1,334,000 CNY, or approximately 202,671 USD .

The 6 premium names sold were D.VIP, 66.VIP, YY.VIP, ZT.VIP, 555.VIP, and CCC.VIP.

The average price of the names sold on the auction was 220,000 CNY, or approximately 33,494 USD.

Vip, means a little different in China...not just very important person...it it used for many other things inc businesses, restaurants,etc all sorts of things I gather.

.VIP broke launch records when it was released earlier this month, and it continues to grow rapidly.

According to data released by the registry:
•Another 40,000 .vip domains have been registered since the first 24 hours. That brings the total to 213,000+
•85% of registrations are from China
•Nearly half of NNN.vip and NNNN.vip domain names are now registered
•3,100 premium domains have been sold
•6 .VIP domains sold for a combined $146,000 in the first auction to include .VIP domains

Premium domain names are those having a higher price than the normal registrations fees than a regular domain registration as set by the registry who sets the wholesale price.

The $1.3 Million in premium priced domain names is based on the wholesale cost of the registry, as the retail cost varies by registrar.

According to the source the lowest wholesale price of a .VIP premium domain that sold was $40 and the highest price of a domain name that sold by at the end of the first day of GA was $13,000

The two highest priced domain names according to the source were QQ.VIP which was registered at for $13,000 wholesale and Alphabet.VIP which was registered in Sunrise but had a premium registration fee of $10,000.

.VIP... 115000 launch figures wow!, what do you reckon Smarm? Domains like 8.VIP will go for maybe more than $1m.....there are plenty of other premium names in there too...kerching!!
